About this deal

You can even purchase a remote control for it if it would help you to use it, possibly up on a shelf or out of reach. The bass is the central element of this speaker, and if you like a large, smooth, deep, full bass, this speaker will give you wet dreams, but if you wanted the most clarity and detail, this won’t do.

While the Exos-9 plays in stereo, its soundstage is quite narrow because the woofers are so close together. This is the fourth speaker that I owned of their since the other 3 speakers either had the base blown out or started skipping. This ain’t one of those small-ish portable Bluetooth speakers, this is something that will keep your party going if you install it in a large hall. You really don't need any clearances for it, but I would leave an inch or two behind it, just for the charging wire, and airflow, other than that it is self contained. One of these USB ports can be used to charge your phone, while the other USB port can be used to perform firmware updates. It will also provide a beautiful bass, and I have fallen in love with the bass more than anything from its sound. Unfortunately the Aiwa Exos-9 has been available and then unavailable a few times and we haven’t seen it around for a little while again now. Am I going to agree or disagree with the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the Aiwa Exos-9 speaker? If you want a little solution to add some music to your home, one that will sound sweet, detailed and delicate, Music Cast 20 is still highly recommended, while if you want a larger, heavier speaker that will create a real party and make everyone jump, EXOS 9 should really do the job.

Granted we didn’t have the chance to check those out and it’s a safe bet that some of you would like to see them included in the package (regardless of extra cost) but the fact of the matter is that we don’t see something similar by other manufacturers. We still believe that the gold standard for auditioning speakers is hearing them in your own environment — that’s why we offer a 60-day money-back guarantee. If that’s not enough battery life for you, Aiwa offers an optional extended battery for longer play time. This determines which frequencies use the most power and adjusts them increasing the life of the battery by up to 100%. In terms of desktop usage, you have a nice combination of factors that make EXOS 9 a really amazing speaker to use while sitting at your desk, or while having a party in your home. While we’ve reviewed other boombox-style speakers, as I’ve mentioned, the Exos 9 is not really like one’s traditional boombox in style, even though it carries a lot of traits that we’re used to seeing from old-school boombox designs. I should also mention that after having had their ARC-1 Bluetooth headphones for almost a year now, I can confirm that they didn’t break so far. Another thing we liked about the Exos-9 and the new Aiwa are the extra available accessories like the IPX4 carrying bag, the remote control and the higher capacity removable battery pack.

The LCD display poses an immediate risk for damage when in the outdoors, and the lack of weatherproofing is a big drawback. The customizable EQ makes the Exos-9 perfect for every genre of music as well as podcasts and audiobooks. The Exos-9 features two 1" silk dome tweeters and two 3" neodymium midrange drivers for clean, dynamic sound. It should be noted that I have absolutely no affiliation with AIWA, I am not receiving any incentive for this review or to sweeten things out.

Keep it plugged in at home or enjoy up to 9 HOURS of incredible unplugged sound with the included quick-swap Lithium-ion battery pack. The first two speakers they shipped me failed due to the bass blowing out at around half volume and this third speaker (the one that I own now) now skips if you increase the volume more than halfway. I do enjoy the Exos 9’s EQ capabilities, which let you adjust the sound signature using both presets or manually, letting you get the sound closer to your personal preferences. This isn’t present in the Exos 9, which, while a little disappointing, is also understandable given the design approach of the speaker, which focuses on a cleaner design.

For the best sound comparison, we recommend selecting your brand and model of headphones in the right-hand column, or if your headphones aren't listed, you can rent one of our Listening Kits. There is enough bass texture to go by, without feeling like the bass is too fast, and in fact, it has a natural overall decay, without too much hassle. In terms of sonics, Edifier S1000DB has better overall detail, but the bass is just boomy compared to the rounded, deep and punchy sound of EXOS 9.I have used more than one source, including my smartphone, Xiaomi Mi Max 3, and even audiophile DAPs like iBasso DX220 to test the EXOS 9. Get 2 of these in pair together for a left right stereo effect or 2 speakers paired left right and left right. I've looked through all the information we have on it and all the information on Aiwa's site about it. The base production in this speaker is also top notch, easily filling a fairly large room with supreme sound.
