About this deal

While the presentation is bright and detailed, it doesn’t have the punch I’ve seen in some other projectors. Its image clarity is easily on-par with native UHD models and though it doesn’t have the black levels of those much-more-expensive displays, HDR material looks quite good with excellent depth and dimension. HDR signals enable two additional controls, HDR Brightness which shifts the EOTF curve, and color gamut which allows selection of Rec. When in cinema mode in a dark room, the projector creates shockingly beautiful images, especially when adding in HDR-processed highlights.

Genuine Original Lamp Inside" refers to OEM (original equipment manufacturer) bare projector bulbs - made by Philips, Osram and Ushio - these companies manufacture genuine original parts for all major projector brands. Dropping the unit into Economic mode will render the fan very quiet with just a low buzz that you can detect in a silent room. However BenQ have been using the terminology ‘True 4K” in their marketing which we feel is not accurate and a little misleading to those who don’t understand how the technology works.TK800 generates razor-sharp images and accurate colours devoid of artifacting such as blur shadowing and interference patterns for immaculate clarity. I tried raising the luminance levels in the color management menu but that threw off the saturation points too severely. Turning to the HDR release makes blacks a little deeper and takes detail to a completely different level. This is ideal for a tabletop installation or a ceiling mount in rooms with a standard eight-foot height.

The TK800 comes in an easy to transport box with a carrying handle, power cable, and backlit remote control and batteries — nice for adjusting controls in dark rooms. It doesn't hurt that the projector is really bright, which means that even with SDR content it can deliver images that have genuine impact, even in less-than-ideal conditions. The TK800 does have a small speaker for playing basic sounds — probably suitable for an office presentation — but we highly recommend you use outboard speakers whenever possible. As stated at the start of the review the TK800 is a budget 4K Ultra HD single chip DLP projector that features the 1920 x 1080 0. The TK800 uses a 4K 120Hz Red, Green, Blue and White (RGBW) four segment colour wheel with colour coatings to produce more light output and coverage of the Rec. Get ready to give your friends and family even more control over what's playing on your TV and speakers.
