Blankets tend to grow due to the weight and size, so bear in mind your full size blanket could grow more significantly than your small test square.

There’s nothing worse than thinking you have all the yarn you need, only to discover one or two skeins have gone missing as you work.If you plan to knit very large afghans… you might prefer a circular needle that is at least 40” long. Kind of like our mittens when we were kids, that were tethered to each other so we couldn’t lose one, LOL.

When you know the size of the blanket you plan to knit, you’ll also be able to figure out what size knitting needles to use.The stitches glide easily on and off the needles and there is no snagging, which in my experience can happen with some of the handmade needles.

Beautifully Hand-curated With Care - Presented in a delightful Juey branded gift box - a wonderful gift for birthdays, Christmas, or any special occasion for the big chunky knitters in your life. Over the past 5 years I have gotten a lot of questions about chunky knit blankets and how to make them.

All of the previous advice was geared toward flat knitting, but you can also take your blanket knitting up a level. Once you have the right needles, the right yarn, and a pattern to go with them, you’re ready to roll. Knitting flat, back and forth with circular needles is the same as knitting with two straight needles… but the two needles are connected by a long cord.
