Only time will tell until the jury is out on that, but I regret to inform you that as beautiful as things look here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc it doesn’t change the lackluster, unimaginative ending employed in Season 8. So if you want that scene as originally broadcast, you’ll want to hang onto that first Blu-ray set in particular. The 4K Discs are neatly packaged with Dolby Vision and HDR10, along with new Dolby Atmos audio tracks on each episode. information on the missing supplements, as is the case with the In Episode Guides and some other interactive or PiP material.

Below are the links for the individual seasons for those wanting a more elaborate review of the story in each season. From a cinematic perspective, this series is shot with a period specific visual aesthetic and that comes through quite naturally in their respective Ultra HD presentations. For fans that are clamoring for a complete 4K video collection will also be impressed by the inclusion of a Dolby Atmos audio track on every episode. I appreciate the fact that the sound designers didn't go overboard with the freedom of object versus channel-based mixing. I'm not sure why the player is not able to always auto-select the correct subtitles according to the setting in the player. seasons of the beloved series in 4K UHD, with the exception of Game of Thrones: The Complete Eighth Season 4K late last year.

It involves one of my favorite characters who usually dresses in red (guess who) that lights a whole army’s weapons ablaze with fire to prepare them to fight the opposing undead enemies in the heart of the night. When the final credits rolled, I was not only disappointed but, was a little angry, felling as through my investment in the Game of Thrones was not at all brought to a satisfactory conclusion. The escalation of the tensions between Winterfell and King's Landing drive them while the lesser but integral subplots following Arya Stark, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen provide an added and enriching layer to the proceedings.

Also just to let you see what’s inside so to speak here’s a quick look at what every single disc in this set looks like. Over the next three episodes we see the culmination of a series of events, some of which had beginnings that started much earlier in the series. The contrast between the shadow details and specular highlights during the battle at Winterfell are among the series’ best. The point is that some ten years ago, the video technology wasn't as advanced and clear as it is today so as each season progresses, the detail and the color get a bit better with of course season seven and eight being the stand-outs of the series. It wasn’t shot in 4K, after all, and previous experience of this season via broadcast and Blu-ray hadn’t exactly blown me away on the picture quality front.

The soundtracks retain much of their original essence with the Atmos mixes adding a noticeable increase in scope. identical to that I detailed in our Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection 4K Blu-ray review of the wide release. So while the episodes in the final two seasons got bigger, from a story standpoint they also got thinner. Episodes four, five and six focus on the quest to unseat Cersei and resolve the question of who will sit upon the Iron Thrown.

It’s easy to forget now, but Game of Thrones was the first hour-long HBO drama to be captured entirely digitally. This 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray box set contains a total of 33 Discs (23 BD-100s, 7 BD-66s, 3 BD-50s) and houses hours upon hours of bonus material (15 to be exact) not to mention the complete 73 episodes (75 hours worth) in pristine 4K Ultra HD picture and Dolby Atmos surround sound plus a redemption code for Digital Copies to enjoy anywhere you want. Since then I went back and watched seasons 1 and 2 which put all of the connective elements and foundational relationships of the events I saw in the following seasons into perspective.

New cast members are added each season, among them Gwendoline Christie ( Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Aidan Gillen ( The Wire), Jason Momoa ( Aquaman), Stephen Dillane ( John Adams), and Diana Rigg ( The Avengers). The first three seasons were shot in 10-bit 4:4:4 at 1920x1080 resolution using then prototype ARRI Alexa cameras (save for a bit of footage in the first episode that was actually shot on 35 mm film, left over from HBO’s original failed pilot).

As stated prior the above audio score and related critique of how things sound down below are based solely upon my viewings against a cumulative average curve of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentations of HBO’s Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection.
